A Thousand Miles is an international nonprofit committed to helping underprivileged youth build solid foundations by providing the resources needed to excel. We believe that it takes love, kindness, and a community to help children get the opportunities they deserve. We envision a world where every child gets the opportunity to succeed — a world where underprivileged youth can flourish and nurture their talents and gifts. Our mission is to inspire hope and change in indigent communities by providing educational, medical, and financial resources to underprivileged youth.

We started as a group of family members and friends with a common goal — helping children by providing school supplies and hygiene essentials. We quickly realized there were more children we could reach and more ways we could help. Our first school supply giveaway was in August 2018, where we served 50 children. Over the next few years we continued hosting giveaways, reaching 30 to 40 children at a time. In 2022, we had our biggest giveaway yet — serving 90 children and seeing firsthand the depth of need in the communities around us. That moment made it clear that forming a nonprofit was the next step. Since 2022, our reach has continued to grow. Today we serve over 700 children across three communities in Jamaica, with a long-term vision to expand our work into the United States.
